About This Piece

A cheerful Laughing Buddha with a beaded strand appears on a dark arched plaque. The detail images emphasize the face and the individual beads against a broad smooth background. The source notes small cotton-like inclusions in the jade; these should be assessed in the close-up photographs.

Carving details and what to examine

The small figure details are useful points for a closer inspection: follow the visible contours rather than judging the work only from the overall silhouette. A gently rotated view helps reveal how the face, clothing or head ornament joins the surrounding surface.

Material and stated origin

This plaque is listed as green nephrite (qingyu) and depicts Laughing Buddha. Its stated origin is Xinjiang, China; the geographic attribution is separate from mineral identification.

Does the source mention inclusions?

The source records small cotton-like inclusions. Request current close-ups of these areas to judge their appearance alongside the carving.
