About This Piece
A pierced crest tops a long rectangular Guanyin panel. Fine border details frame the figure, while the reverse carries an inscription and cloud decoration; the angled view shows the thickness at the lower edge.
Carving details and what to examine
Openwork creates actual openings through the jade, so the surrounding bridges are part of the structure as well as the design. Look at both faces and the inside edges under changing light to assess the finish and check for damage around these narrow connections.
