About This Piece
A standing Guanyin figure and a narrow inscription block share a rectangular panel. The two reverse photographs show the largely uncarved back and the straight, softly rounded edges.
Carving details and what to examine
The lettering adds a second kind of detail to the carving. Look for clear separation between strokes and ask for a straight-on close-up if the wording matters to you. An inscription can be decorative or literary; it is not, by itself, evidence of the maker or the date.
Material and stated origin
This plaque is listed as white nephrite and depicts Guanyin Bodhisattva. Its stated origin is Xinjiang, China; the geographic attribution is separate from mineral identification.
