About This Piece
A pierced scrolling crest tops a rectangular Guanyin panel. Guanyin holds a lotus above a layered pedestal, and a repeating curled band runs along the base.
Carving details and what to examine
Openwork creates actual openings through the jade, so the surrounding bridges are part of the structure as well as the design. Look at both faces and the inside edges under changing light to assess the finish and check for damage around these narrow connections.
