About This Piece
A small horse scene occupies the foot of a long rectangular panel beneath distant mountains. A tiny red seal-like accent appears near the upper field; the reverse is plain.
Carving details and what to examine
The quieter reverse gives a useful comparison with the worked face. View the front, back and edge together to see how the relief meets the outline and how the polish changes across the surfaces. A smooth-looking back in a photograph does not establish that the stone is free of internal features.
Material and stated origin
This plaque is listed as white nephrite and depicts The Thousand-Mile Horse. Its stated origin is Xinjiang, China; the geographic attribution is separate from mineral identification.
