About This Piece
Wang Xizhi and a goose fill a teardrop scene bounded by curling ornament. A separate round goose medallion decorates the reverse, with the two faces connected by the same rounded outline.
Carving details and what to examine
Compare the outer profile in the full view with the smaller carved details in the close-ups. An angled view helps separate changes in surface depth from differences caused by lighting. Photographs are useful for studying the composition, but do not establish the maker, the tools used or a workmanship grade.
Material and stated origin
This plaque is listed as white nephrite and depicts Wang Xizhi and His Geese. Its stated origin is Xinjiang, China; the geographic attribution is separate from mineral identification. The supplied description notes retained pebble-skin texture. This is a description of appearance, not confirmation of treatment status.
