About This Piece

A bear and fish are combined as a small three-dimensional group rather than a flat panel. Bright orange skin patches remain on the rounded surfaces, and the rear view shows how the bodies overlap.

Carving details and what to examine

Compare the outer profile in the full view with the smaller carved details in the close-ups. An angled view helps separate changes in surface depth from differences caused by lighting. Photographs are useful for studying the composition, but do not establish the maker, the tools used or a workmanship grade.

Material and stated origin

This carving is listed as pale greenish-white nephrite and depicts Bear and Fish. Its stated origin is Xinjiang, China; the geographic attribution is separate from mineral identification. The supplied description notes yellow skin. This is a description of appearance, not confirmation of treatment status.
