About This Piece
Three standing figures of the Western Pure Land triad are carved across a circular face. A plain reverse leaves the entire round surface open behind the closely arranged devotional group.
Carving details and what to examine
The quieter reverse gives a useful comparison with the worked face. View the front, back and edge together to see how the relief meets the outline and how the polish changes across the surfaces. A smooth-looking back in a photograph does not establish that the stone is free of internal features.
Material and stated origin
This plaque is listed as white nephrite and depicts Amitabha and the Western Pure Land Triad. Its stated origin is Xinjiang, China; the geographic attribution is separate from mineral identification.
