About This Piece
Three sacred faces are grouped near the top of an orange pebble-shaped carving. Much of the lower front and reverse retains a simpler coloured surface, making the small cluster of faces the focal point.
Carving details and what to examine
Compare the outer profile in the full view with the smaller carved details in the close-ups. An angled view helps separate changes in surface depth from differences caused by lighting. Photographs are useful for studying the composition, but do not establish the maker, the tools used or a workmanship grade.
Material and stated origin
This plaque is listed as yellow nephrite and depicts Amitabha and the Western Pure Land Triad. Its stated origin is Xinjiang, China; the geographic attribution is separate from mineral identification.
