White Hetian Jade Plaque: Horse, a Wish for Success, 32.8 g

No. This individual piece has already been collected and remains online as a reference. You can ask Yufu Jade to look for a similar material, form or carving subject; any new piece is documented and quoted separately.

A curled horse is contained within a round medallion near the base of an arched plaque. The surrounding plain surface makes the low-relief animal and its sweeping mane the main focus. The animal details reward a close view of how small lines meet the larger body forms. A rotated video can show the continuity of the outline and the transition from patterned areas to broader surfaces. The photographs alone do not establish the tools used or the time spent carving.

The listed dimensions are 40 x 28 mm, approximately 1.57 x 1.1 in. Compare these measurements with a ruler to judge the scale. Listed weight: 32.8 g. Confirm the suspension opening and any included cord or fittings.

The horse is a familiar emblem of energy, achievement and forward movement in Chinese art. Carved depictions range from compact resting animals to figures shown in motion. Read this as the traditional subject of the carving, rather than a statement about its age, maker or a promised effect on the owner.
