How to Care for a Jade Bangle
How to care for a jade bangle: putting it on safely, protecting it from knocks, cleaning the inner curve and storing it flat.
A jade bangle lives on the most active part of your body, so its care is mostly about habits: how it goes on, what it bumps into, and where it rests at night. The stone itself needs very little.
Putting it on and taking it off
Work over a soft surface — a bed or a towel — not a tiled floor. Use soap or a plastic bag only if you must, and never force a bangle that hurts to put on; the size is wrong.
Put the bangle on last, after lotion and perfume, and take it off first in the evening. It should sit comfortably without sliding off on its own.
Protecting it from knocks
The bangle\u2019s worst enemies are counters, door frames and the car door. Wear it on the hand you use less, and take it off for sports, heavy cleaning and any work where your wrist leads.
If the bangle has a crack or a suspicious line, stop wearing it and ask the seller or a jeweller to look at it before it fails.
Cleaning the bangle
Wipe the inner and outer curve with a soft cloth dampened with lukewarm water and a little mild soap, then wipe again with a clean damp cloth and dry well. The inner curve collects the most skin oil.
Never use ultrasonic or steam cleaning, and avoid chemicals. A gentle wipe after wear is usually all it needs.
Storing the bangle
Lay it flat in its own padded pouch or compartment. Standing bangles on edge or stacking them with other jewellery is how chips happen while the bangle is asleep.
Keep it away from windowsills and radiators. A bangle stored well lasts generations.
This guide is general jade care education. Always follow the care notes for the individual piece, and contact Yufu Jade if a piece needs cleaning, re-stringing or repair advice.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I wear a jade bangle every day?
Yes, with basic care: put it on last, take it off for sports and cleaning, wipe it after wear, and store it flat in a padded pouch.
How do I clean the inside of a bangle?
Wipe the inner curve with a soft cloth dampened with lukewarm water and mild soap, then a clean damp cloth, then dry it. The inner curve collects the most oil.
What if my bangle has a crack?
Stop wearing it and have it examined. A cracked bangle can fail with the next knock, and catching it early sometimes allows repolishing or stabilising.
Why does my bangle feel tight in the morning?
Hands swell slightly overnight and in warm weather. Put the bangle on when your hand is cool and dry, and never force it.
